The band program of Upshur County has an uncommonly consistent record, easily
reaching back over sixty years. The band was developed from an orchestral program in 1923, and since the 1940’s has
seen only seven directors. The group has been selected as West Virginia Honor Band over a dozen times, and our members have
partcipated in All-State Band, Orchestra, solo and ensemble programs, and various honor activities from Marshall to West Virginia
University.
As
an all-county high school, the band’s heritage of first rate performances is remarkable for its longevity, due in large
part to the dedication and responsibility of its student musicians.
